Starting October 1, 2005, companies began marketing Medicare drug plans to recipients who wish to sign up for the new Medicare drug benefit, which takes effect January 1, 2006. Medicare beneficiaries will have many plan choices, but choosing the right plan requires evaluating more factors than just the cost of the monthly premium. In fact, a beneficiary may conclude that the plan with the cheapest monthly premium may not be the best value.
