Who should I meet with to review my estate plan?

We are very fortunate to have three attorneys who practice in the area of estate planning, each with a different area of focus. Meeting with the attorney whose skills and experience matches your needs will help insure that your questions are fully answered and make sure your meeting time is well spent.

Paul Sullivan

Paul is one of the partners at Sullivan, Griffith & Beatty, LLP.  Paul is experienced in creating estate plans with optimal tax efficiency, balancing strategies for minimization of estate and gift tax with basis planning and income tax efficiency.

Paul also heads the small business practice, helping individuals and families create structure around their businesses.  He frequently advises clients regarding tax compliance and efficiency, the creation of operating and shareholder agreements, buy sells and other agreements integral to small business structure and management.

Erin Duques

Erin Duques is an associate at Sullivan, Griffith & Beatty, LLP.  Erin focuses her practice on asset protection strategies related to the costs of long-term care.  This practice area is commonly referred to as “elder law” or Medicaid planning.  Erin believes it is important to be proactive when it comes to planning for the possibility of long-term care, which can only be done with a complete and total review of assets, liabilities and income sources.

Erin is also very active in planning for disabled beneficiaries and families of loved ones with special needs.

CJ Griffith

CJ is a partner at Sullivan, Griffith & Beatty, LLP.  CJ advises clients when creating tax efficient estate plans with a special emphasis on protecting the inheritances of beneficiaries from divorce, lawsuits or other risks of loss.

CJ also focuses on planning for the special nature of retirement assets.  Tax deferred qualified accounts have special ongoing income tax considerations that in many instances should be addressed separately from other assets.

Do you have anyone can handle a real estate matter for me or for my business?

Jeff Beatty

Jeff is a partner at Sullivan, Griffith & Beatty, LLP.  Jeff’s practice encompasses all areas of real estate: residential and commercial purchases and sales, real estate financing, zoning and land use issues, landlord tenant disputes, property tax assessment appeals and foreclosures.  Jeff also pursues litigation related to the above.

A family member has recently passed away, who should I meet with to help me understand what I need to do?

Meghan Carta

Meghan is an associate at Sullivan, Griffith & Beatty, LLP.  Meghan focuses full time on advising executors and trustees and other family members with estate and trust administration.  Some families require assistance navigating the probate process.  Whether that assistance is a single meeting to learn about the process, or complete representation, taking the burden off the family, making sure that individuals understand their needs and obligations is important.

Meghan has a strong background in trust administration, providing guidance regarding tax compliance, fiduciary accounting and other fiduciary duties.
