Older Americans Month -- 60th Anniversary
This May marks the 60th Anniversary of Older Americans Month (originally known as Senior Services Month.) In 1963, President John F. Kennedy declared May to be Senior Services Month. Every President, since President Kennedy issued the first proclamation, has also issued a proclamation each May to recognize, celebrate, and thank older Americans for the many contributions that they have made and continue to make to our country. Additionally, it was President Jimmy Carter's proclamation in May of 1980, which changed the name to Older Americans Month.
National Elder Law Month
In support of the annual proclamation declaring May as Older Americans Month, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys ("NAELA”) has also designated the month of May as National Elder Law Month. This, now annual, designation by NAELA helps to increase awareness of the work that NAELA and elder law attorneys provide every day in support of older Americans. While educating and assisting seniors regarding various legal options is a daily activity for Elder Law attorneys throughout the country, during the month of May, NAELA is particularly committed to highlighting and honoring these efforts.
Our Thanks & Appreciation
Thus, during the month of May (and every day), our law firm is once again honored and privileged to celebrate, honor, and thank older Americans for their many contributions (both past and present) to our country and to our individual communities.
