February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on heart health and the small, everyday choices that help keep our hearts strong at every age. On February 6th, National Wear Red Day reminds us—especially women—of the importance of recognizing and reducing the risks of heart disease. This message is particularly timely during winter months, when cold temperatures and activities like shoveling snow can place added strain on the heart. It is a good reminder to take precautions, pace yourself, and check in on senior loved ones who may be more vulnerable to winter-related risks. A quick call or visit can make all the difference in supporting their health, safety, and peace of mind.

Help for those who may be struggling with mental health issues:  If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues and needs assistance, help is available by calling or texting the recently launched three-digit dialing code – “988”. The new 988 dialing code to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, for mental health crises, is available throughout the United States.  Additionally, veterans can now dial 988 and press 1 to reach the Veteran Crisis Line.
