Who Pays Credit Card Debt if One's Only Asset Was a Home?

The credit card debt is owed by the estate. It sounds like the house passed without going through probate so it’s probably not subject to claim by the credit card company.

But this could depend on state law that is different from state to state. You would have to consult with a probate attorney from your state to be certain.
