CMS Issues 2024 Spousal Impoverishment, Home Equity Figures

The federal government has announced the spousal impoverishment figures for 2024.

The changes, which member attorney Robert Clofine predicted with precision last month, are outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as follows:

• Maximum Community Spouse Resource Allowance (CSRA) = $154,140
   
• Minimum CSRA = $30,828
   
• Maximum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance (MMNA) = $3,853.50
   
• Minimum MMNA
  • Lower 48 states = $2,465
  • Alaska = $3,080
  • Hawaii = $2,835
• Income Cap = $2,829
   
• Home Equity Limits
  • $713,000 (minimum)
  • $1,071,000 (maximum)
