Welcome to the October issue of the Texas Elder Law E-letter

Our free monthly estate planning essentials workshop was "sold out" again. If interested in our next workshop on November 4, it is suggested that you register at your earliest convenience by either calling 214-720-0102 or online at www.dallaselderlawyer.com (since the last several workshops have had a waiting list as space is limited).

Michael B. Cohen spoke to the East Texas Estate Planning Council in Tyler on October 1 on the recent attack on Ladybird deeds (see his article written on the latest developments below) and other issues concerning planning in connection for long-term care. He spoke to the Tarrant County Bar Association on October 16 on "What to Do When You Turn 65". On October 27, he will be speaking on "Estate Planning Essentials" at the Community Foundation. He will also be a panelist with Dallas County Probate Court Judge Brenda Thompson and the Alzheimer's Association on "Representation of Clients and Incapacity Issues" before the Dallas Bar Association's Probate, Trusts and Estates Section on October 28.  He will also be speaking November 12 to New York Life agents on use of annuities and other planning options in connection with VA and Medicaid benefits.

Also, don't forget that Michael can be heard on KAAM 770 every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and every Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Podcasts of the shows are available are on our website www.dallaselderlawyer.com.

Thanks to all who supported the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" held on October 4.
