Welcome to the May issue of the Texas Elder Law E-letter

Our next monthly “Estate Planning Essential Workshop” is scheduled for May 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Since this normally gets full and there are only a few spots available for this workshop, anyone interested in attending should call Jennifer at (214) 720-0102 to sign up or register at www.dallaselderlawyer.com. Jennifer Velasquez is the newest member of our team. Welcome Jennifer!

In April, Michael B. Cohen spoke at Soneybrook Memory Care on VA benefits. Also in April, Michael B. Cohen was quoted in an article in the Dallas Morning News entitled “Know What’s in Legal Papers” by Pamela Yip.

Michael B. Cohen will also be speaking on behalf of the Dallas Bar Association's Probate, Trust & Estate Planning Section and Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program on the intersection between Elder Law and Medicaid on May 26, 2015. He will also be speaking on June 13 as a panelist for LGBT Community on the planning in light of the anticipated Supreme Court decision. To register for this event go to http://hhdallas.com/celebrate-senior-independence/.

There will be a special event where an expert from Social Security (Tom Clark) will speak on how to get the most out of Social Security. This is designed for those approaching retirement or the age when Social Security is to be elected. To register for this you can call Jennifer at (214) 720-0102 or register at www.dallaselderlawyer.com.

Also, if you wish to be a part of our walk team (whether you walk or not) for the benefit of the Alzheimer’s Association, you may also sign up for that on our website at www.dallaselderlawyer.com. Also finally, don’t forget Michael B. Cohen can be heard on KAAM 770 every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Podcasts of the shows are also available on our website.
