October & Special Needs Law Planning Month
October has, again, been designated as Special Needs Law Planning Month, by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. One purpose of this designation is to help individuals understand the importance of planning for the special needs of a loved one and/or for themselves. In celebration and honor of special needs law planning month, this month's newsletter includes an article highlighting the importance of considering and implementing special needs planning for a child (or other loved one). Although this article appeared in a previous newsletter, the information it provides remains as important today, as it when it made its first appearance in our monthly newsletter.
Recent programs & speaking engagement:
Katie Lenert has been busy again. This month Katie, was, once more, at the helm of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorney's - Illinois Chapter ("IL - NAELA") semi-annual "Un-Program". Katie (a co-chair of the program) and the other committee members provided the attendees (fellow attorneys from throughout the state) with, yet, another cutting-edge, continuing education opportunity. Kudos to Katie and the committee for a job well-done. Additionally, we could not be prouder of Katie, as she and her co-chair have been faithfully and tirelessly heading up this committee for about a decade now. Way to go Katie!
If that was not enough, Katie also presented a program on the topic of Illinois Durable Powers of Attorney, at the 45th Annual Attorneys’ Conference hosted by the Illinois Credit Union League, on October 14, 2022. The conference is steeped in a tradition of providing outstanding and high-level presentations to educate attorneys throughout the state. Katie was both thrilled, and grateful for the opportunity, to have been a presenter at this year's conference.
