Happy Summer!
Flowers are blooming, the days are longer and, for many, summer "to do" lists are overflowing. Summer is, undoubtedly, in full swing and in all its glory.
The splendor of summer, however, can also bring with it days with extreme heat. Heat related illnesses can be life threatening! As such, taking precautions to keep yourself safe from heat stress during the summer months is extremely important. The Illinois Department of Aging has published common sense tips for beating the heat and keeping yourself, along with your family and friends safe. Regardless of your own age and health status, we encourage you to check out these tips; and when possible, check on persons you know who may be at-risk.

A great way to beat the heat is to incorporate cooling off breaks -- ideally, in air conditioning. Indoor breaks are the perfect time to tackle indoor items on your summer to do list. For example, such a break might be the perfect time to review your estate and life care planning. Is reviewing your planning on your summer to do list? If not, we encourage you to add it to your list. If you have a plan in place, take a few minutes to review it to be certain that your current planning documents continue to accurately reflect your wishes. If your planning no longer accurately reflects your wishes; or, if you have not yet created your estate and life care plan, then make an action plan for getting legal advice and assistance to update (or to create) your estate and life care plan.
This summer, may you and yours stay cool; hydrated and healthy; and, may you take time to smell a rose or two!!
