🍂October News🍂

As the leaves change and autumn settles in, October is a wonderful time to reflect on the importance of planning ahead for ourselves and those we love.

October is Estate Planning Awareness Month, a timely reminder that having an estate plan in place helps protect your assets, honor your wishes, and provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Whether creating a plan for the first time or reviewing an existing one, planning ahead can make all the difference.

To promote raise estate planning awareness this month, we are partnering with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and Old Second National Bank to present the following free, educational program:

Estate Planning 101: Protect Your Family’s Future

  • Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026
  • Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Location: Charles Public Library, Huntley Community Room, 1 S. 6th Ave., St. Charles, IL 60174

Catherine ("Katie") Lenert and Lydia Park are featured speakers.  They will be providing practical information to help individuals and families better understand the estate planning process and the importance of having an appropriate plan in place.

October is also Special Needs Law Month, as recognized by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). This observance highlights the importance of thoughtful planning to protect individuals with disabilities, preserve essential benefits, and help ensure their long-term care and financial security.

Finally, Medicare's Annual Open Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026. This is an important opportunity for Medicare beneficiaries to review their coverage and make changes for the coming year.

As we enjoy the beauty of the fall season, we encourage you to take time to review your plans, explore your options, and prepare for the future with confidence.
